Adding audio to video adds significant value to a video surveillance system.

In addition to offering greater situational awareness, the availability of audio provides control room operators with a valuable tool which can help them verify an alarm event, confirm what appears on screen to be suspicious activity; or be used as evidence at critical locations such as custody suites or hospital reception areas.

For the audio to be of any use, it needs to be accurately lip synchronised with the respective video, as just a fraction of a second delay is likely to cause confusion. This is not as easy to achieve as it might seem, but thanks to the innovative technology built into Wavestore’s proprietary Large Allocation Storage System (LASS), our VMS delivers lip synchronised audio you can always rely on.

How does it work?

Each of Wavestore’s camera channels have an audio track. This means our VMS is able to record audio captured by microphones built into ONVIF compliant cameras at precisely the same time as the video it relates to. Whilst reviewing video via Wavestore’s WaveView Client Software, operators are able to take advantage of the option to listen to audio captured and view any camera that is close to the scene in perfect synchronisation.

Two-way Communication

Operators are also able to broadcast audio across all cameras with built-in speakers, or through specific cameras with built-in speakers, simply by clicking the microphone button on Wavestore’s WaveView Client. This can enable full 2-way communication across a site.
